Number of subscribers crosses 200 million

The country’s largest telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has touched the 200-million subscriber base, out of which over 150 million are Indian subscribers. To mark the occasion, the company unveiled its new brand logo aimed at synergising all its global operations.

The company, which had acquired Zain Telecom operations in 15 African countries earlier this year at $10.7 billion, will change the brand name to Airtel from Zain on Friday. The company’s new look would be launched in Bangladesh within the next 30 days and in Sri Lanka in a couple of weeks, said Bharti Airtel Chairman and Managing Director Sunil Bharti Mittal.

Besides the logo, the company has also changed the signature Airtel tune with a new one by music composer A R Rehman.

“Today as we expand on the global stage, this new brand identity gives us the opportunity to present a single powerful and unified face to our customers, stakeholders and partners around the world,” said Mittal.

The company, however, refused to reveal the investment figures. Bharti Airtel will also launch its much-awaited 3G mobile services by the end of next month. Bharti had won spectrum for 3G services in 13 circles.

“Telecom is a very capital intensive sector and we need serious commitment of investment in the sector for its development... don’t take this sector for granted. We are subject for all regulatory policies. We subject ourselves to whatever policy change,” he said.

Tata DoCoMo, the GSM arm of Tata Teleservices, has already launched 3G services in nine circles where it has spectrum. Besides, state-run firms BSNL and MTNL are already offering 3G services. While Vodafone Essar plans to launch its 3G services by the end of the first quarter of 2011.

Quickly remove all the detachable parts as well as covers possible such as the back cover, battery, the SIM card, memory card etc. Next, take a piece of cloth or a tissue paper to wipe the excess water you are able to notice within the mobile phone. Make sure that you dry it completely. If you don' t do this, the water inside the mobile phone will begin to evaporate and gather in places which will be difficult to reach.

Using a hairdryer :

Hack To Send Free SMS From Airtel !

Numerous forums and blog posts all over internet claim working hack to send free SMS by changing your default service provider SMS message center to some other number, but in reality there is no free lunch and these tricks dont work, I have personally tested these so called free SMS hacks on three different Airtel/BSNL numbers but none worked.
If you still want to give it a try, here is a detailed walkthrough :

1. Open your cellphone Message menu and search for Message Settings option, on Nokia phones it will be - Messagi­n­­g –> Op­ti­on­­s –>Setti­n­­gs.
2. Find Text Message option an­­d op­en­­ Message C­en­­ters, create a new message center profile or edit existing to new number - +919810051905 (do note down your original message center number).
3. N­­ow­ change p­ref­erred c­on­­n­­ec­ti­on­­ setting f­rom GSM
   
   to Pac­ket­ D­at­a.
4. If you created a new message center profile in step above activate it to default profile.
5. Now navigate to your Connection preference and change it to When Available, Ph­o­­ne Set­t­ings –> Co­­nnect­io­­n Set­t­ing –> Pa­cket­ D­a­t­a­ ->­­ Wh­en A­v­a­ila­ble.
6. Change Access Point setting to A­ir­t­el Liv­e!.
7. Now, send SMS as usual but prefix a zero before the number.
8. This completes the trick circulated but as I told earlier this does not work.

This is how to check the status of the 4 different locks. Aslo don't try entering the wrong number, because after 3 times it will block the phone for good.

There are 4 different locks on your Nokia phone.

• COUNTRY-LOCK
• NETWORK-LOCK
• PROVIDER-LOCK
• SIMCARD-LOCK

The code to read out the sim-lock status of your phone is

#PW+(MASTERCODE)+(Y)#

• # = DOUBLE-CROSS
• W = PRESS "*" THREE TIMES
• P = PRESS "*" FOUR TIMES
• + = PRESS "*" TWO TIMES
• MASTERCODE = 1234567890
• Y = NUMBER 1 TO 4

The master code is a secret code. The code has 10 digits, To read out the sim-lock status you can enter every combination you want!

"Y" Shows the status of the network-lock. Here you can enter a number from "1" to "4". The "4" is for the sim-card lock.

NETWORK MONITOR

There is a hidden menu inside your Nokia phone. If you want to activate it, you'll have to re-program some chips inside of your phone.

1. Check your software version. You can only continue if you have v4.33, v4.73 or v5.24.
2. Take apart the phone.
3. De-solder the EEPROM (ATMEL AT 24C64).
4. Read out the data with an EEPROM programmer and save it to a file (Backup).
5. If you have v.33 or v4.73, change the address "03B8" from "00" to "FF".
6. If you have v5.24 then change the address "0378" from "00" to "FF".
7. Write the new data to the EEPROM and solder it back to the phone,
8. Power on your phone and you should have "Netmonitor" enabled.

The Network Monitor gives you the following information.

• Carrier number
• MS RX Level in DBM
• Received signal quality
• MS TX power level
• C1 (Path loss criterion, used for cell selection and reselection). The range is -99 to 99.
• RTL (Radio link timeout).
• Timeslot
• Indication of the transmitter status
• Information on the Network parameters.
• TMSI (Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity).
• Cell identification (Cell ID, Number of cells being used).
• MCC (Mobile country code)
• MCN (Mobile network code)
• LAC (Location area code)
• Ciphering (On/Off)
• Hopping (On/Off)
• DTX (On/Off)
• Discard cell barred information

THE JAMES BOND TRICK

If you short-circuit theleft middle and right pins on the bottom of the phone with all connections touching each other, the Nokia software hangs! The profile "Headset" will be activated. Before you do this just activate the "Automatic Answer" in the headset profile and set the ringing volume to "Mute". Now you can use your phone for checking out what people are talking about in a room. Just place it under a table in a room and call it. The phone receives the call without ringing and you can listen to what people are saying.

EFR CALL QUALITY

To activate EFR (Enhanced Full Rate) Enter the code-

This improves call quality but decreases batterylife by about 5%

THE REBOOT TRICK

This should work on all software versions of the 6110.

1. Go to the Calendar (Menu-8)

2. Make a note or reminder.

3. Enter some text into the edit box.

4. Hold "Clear" until the whole text is cleared, then press "Back".

5. Press "0". The main screen will now be showing but a space appears on the screen. (you can't see it)

6. Enter 4 digits (e.g. 1234).

7. Use the down arrow to move the cursor to the left side of the numbers and the space (Down arrow twice).

8. Now enter 6 digits and press the call button.

Wait for a few seconds, the screen should start to flash and reboots. It should alsowork on other menus like the "Profiles" menu.

Vodafone has been a hard nut to crack. The GPRS service it provides, though isn’t the greatest but doesn’t have many loop holes to exploit in order to use GPRS for FREE.  ‘working’ trick to access Internet for free on Vodafone mobile! Just use the following mentioned settings on your vodafone mobile:

APN – portalnmms
IP – 010.010.001.100 OR 196.006.128.012
Port No. – 9401 or 8799

Use the above mentioned IP address and Port No. in different combinations with each other i.e IP: 010.010.001.100 with Port: 8799, etc. And do share your experience using this trick to get FREE GPRS on Vodafone!
